The Period Costume Meme

Picture your muse in petticoats. Or gauzy Grecian draperies. Or really tight pants and a frock coat. Or full Chinese court dress. Maybe you want them playacting, maybe you like the idea of some other character taking it all off them one layer at a time... maybe you just think it'd look good on them.

There are many reasons for a character to don period attire - a partial list is provided - and many, many eras to draw from.

Instructions

  1. Post your character in the historical garb of your choice. Go ahead and get self-indulgent with the detailed description. Or just find an icon, I guess.
  2. Indicate what scenario(s) you have in mind, whether you're open to wacky period mismatches, and any other prefs you may have.
  3. Tag some folks and get your costume kink on.

Scenarios

  1. Period Drama ➳ You're onstage or on screen, playing your part in a thrilling tale of days gone by. Just try not to piss off the wardrobe department.
  2. Living History ➳ You're a reenactor, Renfaire performer, or other professional, and these duds are your uniform. How dedicated you are to your persona is up to you.
  3. Cosplayer ➳ Your hobby is dressing up, whether it's for cons, LARPs, or just for fun, and NO, it's not a sex thing!
  4. Fancy Dress Ball ➳ You're at a party. Costumes mandatory. Try to look like you're having fun.
  5. In Another Life ➳ You wear these clothes like you were born to them... because, for the purposes of this meme, you were. Time to get your historical AU on.
  6. Back To The Future ➳ You're a time traveller blending in. (Or failing to blend in? Sweetie, those panniers are so last century.)
  7. Laced/Unlaced ➳ It's totally a sex thing. Mmmm... corsets, codpieces, maybe one of those saucy Minoan numbers...
  8. Homebrew ➳ Roll your own pretext, I'm not the boss of you.
